Dressel’s opened it’s doors in 1980 as neighborhood tavern/pub owned by Jon and Barbara Dressel. Catering mainly to the CWE and the intellectual/artistic community revolving around Saint Louis and Washington Universities. The walls were filled with Composers and writers, the menu was simple next generation pub fare with a hint of Welsh pub thrown in. (Jon Dressel had originally opened Llywelyn’s pub in 1975)
A one room saloon with a small kitchen and circular bar was all you would see at that time.
Through the years the pub has grown to encompass the entire building and distinctive Welsh character. Now owned and operated by son Benjamin, Dressel’s serves a broad cross section of Saint Louis as well as travelers from afar.
